In celebration of sportsmanship, solidarity, and cultural festivity, the community of Assumption College of Davao (ACD) has officially begun intramurals 2023-2024 with the theme “Mary, Our Lady, Let Justice and Peace Flow” on Monday, October 2, 2023.

At 9:50 a.m., Assumptionists from Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior High School (JHS), Senior High School (SHS), and College departments cheered and commenced the parade of colors from different teams: Blue Tallions, Rajah Saffrons, Yellow Sentinels, and Red Cavalry at the ACD school grounds.

The school president, Sr. Elvira Soleminio, m.a., MBA, then delivered her opening remarks, borrowing a quote from Helen Keller: “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” In her speech, Sr. Elvira Soleminio emphasized that the essence of the event is to promote cooperation, showcase talents, and strengthen camaraderie.

Additionally, Sr. Elvira Soleminio and Dr. Giovanni A. Montejo, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Research, and Community Engagement, launched the program with the traditional hoisting of the intramural banner.

Following this, Mr. Christian Barrete, an ACD student-athlete, led the Oath of Sportsmanship/Amateurism, and a few selected varsity players participated in the Lighting of the Urn.

At 10:19 a.m., the Cultural and Sports Affairs Officer, Ms. Maricel Linsag, formally declared the beginning of the festival.

The crowd rejoiced as the most-anticipated banner was revealed, the banner raising through relay, and the cheers and yells launched afterward.

Each cluster presented its captivating banners and energetic yells, where every team’s colors showcased their creativity and identity as a group.

“I never thought that despite the hectic class schedules, each team still provides very creative outputs,” a student from the SHS department stated.

Meanwhile, the representatives from each team revealed their dedication and competitiveness as the banner-raising through the relay started at the ACD quadrangle.

The Red Cavalry won first place, followed by Rajah Saffrons, Yellow Sentinels, and Blue Tallions.

The first day of the morning program ended successfully with the special participation of Himig Assumptionista and Paalab Cultural Club.
