Assumption College of Davao – College Deapertment Strengthens Campus Safety Through Anti-Hazing Law Seminar

 

Last August 17, 2023, Assumption College of Davao’Office of Student Affairs (OSA) in a collaborative of the KASAMA Student Council, successfully organized a comprehensive seminar addressing the Anti-Hazing Law. The event, held in two sessions to accommodate day and evening classes, aimed to enlighten students about the potential dangers of engaging in hazing activities. Esteemed legal expert Atty. Niceforo V. Solis served as the resource person, emphasizing the importance of informed decision-making under the theme “Empowered Choices: Building a Safe and Thriving Campus Community.”

The seminar, which took place at the college campus, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. The morning session, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN, catered to day class attendees, while the evening session, held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, welcomed students from the evening class.

Atty. Solis, a respected figure in the legal field, took center stage as he explored the nuances of the Anti-Hazing Law. With his vast expertise, he illuminated the potential consequences individuals could face when involved in hazing activities. Atty. Solis highlighted the legal provisions and penalties embedded in the law, emphasizing its role in curbing such harmful practices.

The seminar facilitated an engaging and interactive environment for students to clarify their doubts and gain deeper insights into the legal aspects of hazing. The Q&A session with Atty. Solis proved particularly insightful, enabling students to grasp the severity of the law’s implications.

 

As participants left the seminar armed with knowledge about the Anti-Hazing Law, they pledged to play an active role in preventing hazing activities within the college community. The event stands as a testament to the college’s dedication to providing its students with valuable life skills and empowering them to make choices that contribute to their personal growth and the betterment of the entire academic community.
